The Brisbane School of Fine Woodwork is pleased to announce a new, two-week full-time course on building a wall hanging cabinet. This piece will follow traditional joinery techniques, utilising hand cut dovetails in solid timber, hand fitted, hinged, a floating panel door and a french cleat to keep your piece nicely secured on a wall. The cabinet will be fixed design, approximately 460mm (H) x 200mm (W) x 165mm (D). The cabinet will be another heirloom piece to be passed down from generation to generation. Whilst this is an excellent transition piece between the Month Long Basics Course and the Month Long Cabinet on Stand Course, the Month Long Basics Course is not a prerequisite course. As with most of our courses, class size is limited to four students. All students have access to their own bench and fully equiped tool board. The School provides beautiful furniture grade timber for the project. There is an extensive library including books on technique and design. The School’s machine shop is equiped with all of the necessary machinery to run a professional furniture making practice.
The School is located just 2km from Samford Village and 25km from Brisbane.
